EXPERIENCE SPEED SKATING. WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

The masters are a group of adult long blade skaters, from beginners to advanced racers.

Every year many adults try speed skating for the first time by participating in on-ice training sessions with the Pacers Masters group. Many of them choose to join the Pacers Masters or pursue speed skating in some manner.

This year we are coordinating a specific set of sessions for newcomers  to “experience speed skating” in a consistent and supportive manner. Skates are provided by the club for the duration of the sessions. One set of sessions runs Tuesday evenings and another runs Thursdays after work.

A set consists of one 1.5-hour off-ice session for equipment-fitting and orientation, followed by six 1-hour on-ice sessions. Newcomers will be separated into distinct ability-groups and receive instruction and coaching specific to them. Sessions will be structured similarly to a masters practice so you will see what the club has to offer at the same time as learning the basics of speed skating.

Although sessions will be on an indoor “short track,” the basics provided in these sessions will be
common to outdoor/long track. If you decide to join the Pacers your registration fee for these sessions may be applied to your membership fees. For more information or to reserve a spot email: adultspeedskate@gmail.com
