Paul started competitive skating in Winnipeg, MB in 1971, winning the Manitoba midget boys title that year. He moved to Ottawa with his parents in 1974.

1972    National Juvenile Champion.
1973    Indoor and Outdoor Juvenile title.
1974    Made the Ontario team to the Canadian Indoor (Ottawa, ON), ranking second in Ontario.
1976    Established an Intermediate Men's record for 3000m at 5:36.0.
1977    Kitchener Waterloo Oktoberfest Senior B Championship.
1979    Ontario Closed Senior Men's A Championship as well as qualifying for the Canada Games in Brandon, MB.

Paul was away for ten years establishing a career with Canada's Armed Forces.  Returning to the Pacers in 1989, he immediately put his experience to work for us as a coach, organizing an early long track training camp in Lake Placid, NY.
