Alison was a competitive speed skater for ten years, and was the skaters' rep in 1986/87/88 for both the Pacers and OSSA.

1982    Alison was the Ontario midget champion and took bronze in the Eastern Seaboard meet.
1983 to 1985    she was always on the podium with silvers and bronzes.
1986    saw Alison on the Ontario Provincial Team for both the Canadians and the North Americans. She won the Ontario junior championship setting several records and placed 4th in the North Americans.
1987    Alison set an Ontario record in the 1000 m while earning a bronze in the Canadian Winter Games.  She won gold in the Ontario Juniors and silver in Canada’s Capital meet that year.  1987 was capped for Alison when she was named Ottawa’s Best Female Athlete and carried the Olympic Torch for the 1988 Calgary Olympics.
1988    She carried the Olympic torch when it came through the area and was named Ottawa's top female athlete, competing in speed skating, running, cycling and soccer.  Alison took gold for Junior women in Canada’s Capital Outdoor championships (Olympic Style).
